Gemini and Apex Plan to Bring Crypto Prediction Markets to Brokerage Clients
Published Aug 24, 2026
Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions are preparing to expand access to regulated crypto prediction markets through traditional brokerage platforms.
The companies announced that they have signed a letter of intent under which Gemini Titan would become the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant to participating brokerage customers.
Brokerages offering these contracts through Apex would use Gemini for execution and clearing. In practical terms, that would allow brokerage platforms connected to Apex to add crypto prediction markets without building their own exchange connectivity and clearing infrastructure from scratch.
How the Proposed Partnership Would Work
Apex provides the technology, custody, clearing, and brokerage infrastructure behind a wide range of digital investing platforms. Under the proposed arrangement, Apex would act as the distribution channel while Gemini’s regulated subsidiaries would provide the underlying prediction-market venue and clearing capabilities.
Gemini Titan received a Designated Contract Market license from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in December 2025, allowing Gemini to operate a federally regulated prediction market. Gemini Olympus then obtained a Derivatives Clearing Organization license in April 2026, enabling Gemini to bring clearing and settlement for Gemini Titan in-house.
Combining those licenses with Apex’s brokerage network gives the companies a potentially efficient way to distribute event contracts. A brokerage could integrate the product through infrastructure it already uses instead of negotiating separate execution and clearing arrangements directly with Gemini.
The exclusivity described in the announcement applies specifically to crypto event contracts distributed through Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant. Gemini and Apex may also explore contracts tied to sports, economics, and financial markets, but any collaboration in those additional categories would be non-exclusive.
Gemini Is Expanding Beyond Crypto Trading
The agreement fits into Gemini’s broader effort to evolve from a conventional cryptocurrency exchange into a full-service markets platform. The company launched Gemini Predictions in December 2025 and has since added new event contracts, market-maker incentives, an application programming interface, and its own clearing infrastructure.
Gemini reported that more than 225 million event contracts had been traded on its prediction platform by the end of the second quarter of 2026. Quarterly contract volume increased 93%, although prediction-market revenue remained relatively small at $500,000 for the quarter.
Those figures show both the opportunity and the challenge. Users are interacting with the product, but Gemini still needs to translate that activity into a meaningful and durable source of revenue. Distribution through outside brokerages could help the company reach customers who would not otherwise open a dedicated Gemini account.
The Apex relationship already extends beyond prediction markets. Gemini launched commission-free stock trading for certain U.S. customers in July, with Apex Clearing Corporation serving as the custodian and clearing broker. The latest announcement would deepen that relationship by adding another product category to the same broader financial infrastructure.
Why Brokerage Distribution Matters
Prediction markets have traditionally required customers to visit a specialized platform. Embedding event contracts inside existing brokerage applications could make them available alongside stocks, cryptocurrency, and other familiar financial products.
That distribution model may become increasingly important as competition grows among regulated prediction-market venues. The platform controlling execution does not necessarily need to own the customer-facing application if it can supply the regulated market and clearing infrastructure behind multiple brokers.
For Gemini, this creates the possibility of becoming an infrastructure provider as well as a direct retail platform. For Apex-connected brokerages, it offers a potential shortcut into crypto event contracts while reducing the technical and regulatory work involved in supporting them.
The Agreement Is Not Final Yet
The biggest caveat is that Gemini and Apex have signed a non-binding letter of intent, not a definitive commercial agreement. The companies said they expect to finalize the details in the coming weeks, but they have not disclosed a launch date, participating brokerages, financial terms, or the specific crypto contracts that would be offered.
That means the announcement should be viewed as a proposed distribution arrangement rather than a completed product rollout. The real measure of its importance will be how many brokerages adopt the offering and whether their customers generate sustained trading activity.
To me, the most interesting part is the infrastructure model. Gemini is attempting to turn its regulatory licenses and in-house clearing capabilities into services that other financial platforms can use. If the final agreement leads to meaningful brokerage adoption, it could move crypto prediction markets closer to becoming a standard feature inside mainstream investing applications.
