Monday 4.4.22: Intel today launched its “Intel Blockscale ASIC,” a second-generation Bitcoin mining chip announced in February. As Intel explains on its site, the chip was built with a focus on energy sustainability in the context of ESG (environmental, social, governance) concerns that continue to plague the industry.
Tuesday 4.5.22: The digital mapping industry is dominated by centralized giants like Google, TomTom, and Apple, but blockchain startup Hivemapper sees significant potential in a decentralized, open-source alternative that is built by a wide network of users. Today, Hivemapper announced a$18 million Series A funding round to bring its vision to life.
Wednesday 4.6.22: ESPN announced its first-ever NFT collection in partnership with Brady’s Autograph platform, a sports and entertainment NFT startup that he co-founded in 2021. ESPN’s first NFT drop will be based on Brady and ESPN’s documentary series about him, “Man in the Arena: Tom Brady.” The series was produced by Brady’s own Religion of Sports media company.
Thursday 4.7.22: Block users who receive their paychecks through Cash App's direct deposit feature can nowreceive all or a portion of those wages in Bitcoin. The company formerly known as Square announced the new "Paid in Bitcoin" feature on Thursday at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami.
Friday 4.8.22: U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to approve a spot market Bitcoin ETF, the SEC has approved its fourth Bitcoin futures ETF. This new fund is different: The other three funds were approved under the Investment Company Act of 1940, which the SEC has said provides strong consumer protections. But the Teucrium ETF marks the first time the SEC has approved a Bitcoin futures fund under the Securities Act of 1933.
