Walmart’s OnePay Readies Crypto Trading & Custody for Bitcoin & Ether Later This Year

Walmart’s OnePay will roll out BTC & ETH trading and custody via ZeroHash—turning its wallet into a major crypto on-ramp later this year.
Walmart-owned fintech OnePay plans to enable buying, selling, and custody of Bitcoin and Ether directly in its mobile wallet later this year, expanding from its commerce and payments base into on-ramp crypto services. The infrastructure backing the move will come via ZeroHash, which will provide the underlying trading and custody rails.
This launch signals Walmart’s push deeper into finance—moving from offering credit, savings, and wallet services toward becoming a full crypto gateway embedded in everyday consumer use. It also intensifies competition with other tech platforms that already integrate crypto access, like Apple, Google, and Samsung.
For crypto investors, the implications are broad: OnePay’s reach (tied to Walmart’s retail footprint) could bring millions of new users into the market through a familiar interface. As on-ramp friction falls, token demand may increase—especially for major assets like BTC and ETH. The real test will be adoption, regulatory clarity, and how seamless and secure the integration proves.
