Tether, issuer of the world’s leading stablecoin USDT, is reportedly exploring a private capital raise between $15 and $20 billion that would value the company at roughly $500 billion. The proposed deal is said to involve offering around a 3% stake, putting Tether in rare air among global private companies.

If the valuation holds, it would far outpace many tech unicorns and place Tether among the most highly valued private firms ever. Despite regulatory headwinds and legacy concerns about transparency, Tether has doubled down on its dominance — its USDT token remains a critical liquidity backbone for crypto markets worldwide.
