Ripple Expands $1.3B RLUSD Stablecoin Across Ethereum Layer 2 Networks

Ripple is pushing RLUSD deeper into Ethereum’s Layer 2 ecosystem, expanding stablecoin access across institutional-grade scaling networks.
Ripple is expanding its RLUSD stablecoin across Ethereum Layer 2 networks, marking another step in its broader push to embed regulated stablecoin infrastructure directly into the heart of on-chain finance. With RLUSD already carrying a reported $1.3 billion valuation, the move positions Ripple to tap into Ethereum’s rapidly growing Layer 2 economy, where most real-world transaction activity is increasingly migrating.
By extending RLUSD onto Ethereum L2s, Ripple enables compatibility with networks built on shared scaling frameworks such as Optimism’s OP Stack. This opens the door for RLUSD to operate seamlessly across multiple rollups while maintaining unified liquidity and messaging standards. For institutions, this matters far more than base-layer experimentation, as L2s provide the throughput, cost efficiency, and settlement speed required for stablecoin-heavy use cases.
The expansion also strengthens Ripple’s positioning alongside infrastructure-focused projects that already live within the Ethereum ecosystem, allowing RLUSD to be integrated into oracle networks, DeFi protocols, and enterprise applications without fragmenting liquidity. Stablecoins remain the most widely adopted crypto product globally, and Ripple’s strategy reflects a clear understanding that scale, compliance, and interoperability matter more than ideological chain loyalty.
This move follows Ripple’s recent regulatory progress, including approval for a national trust charter, further reinforcing its strategy of aligning on-chain infrastructure with institutional standards. Rather than competing with Ethereum, Ripple is embedding itself within its scaling layers, signaling a pragmatic approach to where real adoption is happening today.
