MoonPay Acquires Meso, Stepping Up Its Global Payments Game

Published

MoonPay buys Meso to scale its payments network—bringing in new fintech leaders and integrating banks, cards, stablecoins & blockchains.

MoonPay is acquiring payments startup Meso in a strategic move aimed at transforming itself from a fiat-to‐crypto on-ramp into a fully regulated global payments network. The deal brings Meso’s fintech leadership into MoonPay’s executive tier—Meso co-founder Ali Aghareza becomes MoonPay’s CTO and Ben Mills takes over product strategy as SVP.

With Meso in its toolkit, MoonPay plans to unify banks, card networks, stablecoins, and blockchains under one compliance and infrastructure framework. This follows its earlier acquisitions of Helio (a Solana-based payments app) and a stablecoin infrastructure provider, showing the company is aggressively stacking capabilities to service both individuals and enterprises across borders.

MoonPay already touches over 30 million customers and works with nearly 500 partner companies. Adding Meso’s API integrations and self-custody-friendly tools should help it streamline cross-border flows and reduce friction for users wanting to move between fiat and crypto. The acquisition underscores how regulatory compliance, real-time settlement, and infrastructure robustness are now central battlegrounds in payments.
