Kraken Selects Chainlink CCIP to Power Future Wrapped Bitcoin Infrastructure

Published

Kraken is migrating kBTC and future wrapped assets to Chainlink CCIP, citing security, scalability, and enterprise-grade infrastructure.

Kraken is officially migrating its wrapped asset infrastructure to Chainlink CCIP, naming the protocol as its exclusive cross-chain provider for Kraken Wrapped Bitcoin (kBTC) and future wrapped assets moving forward.

The move signals growing demand for enterprise-grade interoperability solutions as exchanges and institutions push deeper into tokenized assets and cross-chain finance. Kraken cited Chainlink CCIP’s security architecture, independent node network, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2 certifications, and native rate-limiting protections as key reasons behind the transition.

Cross-chain infrastructure has become one of the most critical pieces of crypto’s evolving ecosystem. As wrapped assets expand across multiple blockchains, security and reliability are becoming non-negotiable for major platforms handling institutional-scale liquidity.

By integrating Chainlink CCIP, Kraken is positioning its wrapped asset ecosystem around a more standardized and secure framework designed to support long-term DeFi growth and broader asset distribution across chains.

The partnership also reinforces Chainlink’s growing role as a foundational layer for tokenized finance, interoperability, and enterprise blockchain infrastructure. As more exchanges and financial institutions look to bridge assets between networks safely, CCIP continues emerging as one of the leading protocols competing to become crypto’s universal messaging and transfer standard.

Kraken stated that no immediate action is required from existing kBTC holders, with additional migration details expected through official Kraken channels in the coming weeks.
