Gemini debuts XRP‑backed credit card—up to 4% back on everyday purchases, $200 bonus, and RLUSD trading boost for U.S. users.
New York, August 25, 2025 – Gemini, the crypto exchange co-founded by Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, has unveiled a limited-edition XRP Credit Card, developed in collaboration with Ripple. This new card embeds XRP—Ripple’s native digital asset—into everyday purchases, offering compelling rewards designed to resonate with the XRP community.
Rewards Structure
Cardholders can earn 4% back in XRP on gas, EV charging, and rideshare purchases (up to $300 per month, then 1%). Dining purchases earn 3% back, groceries earn 2% back, and all other purchases receive 1% back. In addition, select merchant partners may offer up to 10% back on eligible transactions. Rewards are credited instantly in XRP to users’ Gemini accounts, making it an efficient way to accumulate crypto through daily spending.
Bonuses & Fees
Early applicants can qualify for a $200 XRP welcome bonus after spending $3,000 within the first 90 days. The card has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees, and no crypto reward delivery fees, making it highly competitive against traditional reward cards.
Performance Insights
According to Gemini’s data, users who held XRP rewards for at least one year saw significant gains—rewards initially worth around $73,700 grew to over $407,000, marking a 453% increase. This performance positioned XRP as the best-performing reward currency among Gemini’s offerings.
Expanded Ripple Integration
The launch also expands Ripple’s footprint in U.S. markets through Gemini’s adoption of RLUSD, Ripple’s dollar-backed stablecoin. RLUSD will serve as a base currency for all U.S. spot trading pairs, reducing conversion costs and smoothing the trading process for American customers.
Strategic Significance
This initiative strengthens Gemini’s push to integrate crypto into mainstream finance while reinforcing XRP’s role in everyday transactions. Tyler Winklevoss emphasized that the card allows users to “earn XRP and express their passion,” while Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted its potential to make crypto rewards an accessible gateway to digital asset adoption.
Context
The card’s launch comes as Gemini prepares for a potential public offering. Despite reporting a net loss of $282 million in the first half of 2025, the company continues to expand product lines and secure strategic backing, including a $75 million credit facility from Ripple.
