Galaxy Takes a Historic Leap: Tokenizing Its SEC-Registered Shares on Solana
Published
Galaxy Digital tokenizes its SEC-registered stock live on Solana, offering real equity on-chain with full shareholder rights.
Galaxy Digital has broken new ground by becoming the first publicly traded company to tokenize its SEC-registered Class A common stock on a major public blockchain—Solana. Through a strategic partnership with fintech firm Superstate, shareholders can now convert their shares into digital tokens via the Opening Bell platform. These tokens are not synthetic or wrapped derivatives but genuine Galaxy shares, conferring the same legal and economic rights as conventional securities.
This move unlocks on-chain settlement and 24/7 transferability for eligible, KYC-verified investors who hold their tokenized shares in self-custodied wallets. Real-time updates to the shareholder registry are managed by Superstate, acting as Galaxy’s SEC-registered transfer agent. While automated market maker (AMM) trading is not yet enabled, Galaxy and Superstate are actively collaborating with regulators to explore compliant DeFi markets for these on-chain equities.
Although uptake has been measured—with a modest group of institutional investors already converting shares—the initiative lays the foundation for a future where traditional capital markets operate seamlessly on blockchain rails. Galaxy sees this as the first crucial step in forging a new bridge between legacy finance and next-generation infrastructure.
