Franklin Templeton Backs Ondo to Bring 24/7 Stock Trading On-Chain 140-character excerpt:

Published

Franklin Templeton partners with Ondo to launch tokenized stocks and ETFs, enabling 24/7 trading via crypto wallets worldwide.

Wall Street is officially stepping into always-on markets. Franklin Templeton, a $1.7 trillion asset manager, is partnering with Ondo Finance to bring tokenized stocks and ETFs onto blockchain rails—unlocking 24/7 trading through crypto wallets instead of traditional brokerage accounts.

At the core of the partnership is Ondo Global Markets, a platform designed to issue blockchain-based tokens that represent real-world financial assets like equities, bonds, and ETFs. These tokens track the value of the underlying securities and can be held, transferred, or used within crypto ecosystems—effectively merging traditional finance exposure with DeFi infrastructure.

The key shift here is accessibility and timing. Traditional stock markets operate within fixed hours, but tokenized assets can trade continuously—nights, weekends, and across global time zones. This removes one of the biggest frictions in traditional markets and opens the door for a new class of investors who primarily operate through stablecoins and crypto wallets.

The initial rollout will include multiple tokenized ETFs spanning U.S. equities, fixed income, and even gold exposure. These products will first launch outside the United States—in regions like Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Latin America—while U.S. access remains dependent on further regulatory clarity around on-chain distribution of registered securities.

Structurally, Ondo handles the backend by purchasing the underlying assets and issuing tokens that mirror their economic exposure. Investors don’t directly own the shares but receive rights tied to their performance, allowing those tokens to be integrated into broader crypto use cases like collateral, lending, or DeFi strategies.

Zooming out, this is a major signal for the real-world asset narrative. Tokenized equities have already gained traction over the past year, and Ondo has positioned itself as a leader in the space. With Franklin Templeton stepping in, the model gains institutional validation and significantly more distribution power.

The bigger picture is clear: finance is moving toward a hybrid system where traditional assets live on-chain. Instead of replacing markets, this approach extends them—turning a 6.5-hour trading window into a 24/7 global liquidity layer.

And if this model sticks, the next phase isn’t just crypto trading—it’s your entire portfolio living on-chain.
