Ethereum Poised to Benefit from Surging Stablecoin Demand, JPMorgan Says
Published
JPMorgan sees Ethereum as a key play in the booming stablecoin market, now powering over half the $270B sector with long-term upside.
JPMorgan analysts recently spotlighted Ethereum as a prime way to gain exposure to the skyrocketing growth of stablecoins—tokens pegged to the dollar whose adoption is rapidly accelerating. With Ethereum accounting for 51% of the $270 billion stablecoin market ($138 billion issued on its network), the asset is increasingly seen as central to digital finance’s expansion.
Stablecoin Surge Fuels Ethereum’s Promise Ethereum isn’t just hosting stablecoins—it’s at the heart of their explosive growth. JPMorgan’s analysts foresee meteoric gains in the sector rooted in regulations like the GENIUS Act, the new stablecoin-friendly legislation passed last month. Whether these tokens are issued directly on Ethereum (Layer‑1) or via its Layer‑2 networks, the analysts say ether provides direct exposure to this trend.
Substantial Market Share and Economic Leverage With $138 billion in stablecoins already issued on Ethereum, that equates to more than half of the current $270 billion stablecoin ecosystem. JPMorgan projects the sector could expand to $500 billion by 2028, outpacing broader crypto growth.
How Stablecoin Activity Could Lift Ether’s Value The increased on-chain activity tied to stablecoins drives up demand for Ethereum’s utility and network usage—raising transaction fees that get burned, reducing circulating supply, and potentially boosting ETH’s price over time.
