DTCC and Stellar Partner to Bring Tokenized Securities On-Chain
Published
Tokenized stocks, ETFs, and Treasuries keep moving on-chain as DTCC expands deeper into blockchain-based settlement infrastructure.
The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is partnering with Stellar Development Foundation to bring tokenized versions of DTCC-custodied assets onto the Stellar network, marking another major step forward in the institutional tokenization race.
According to the announcement, the initiative will support tokenized representations of real-world financial products including Russell 1000 stocks, ETFs, and U.S. Treasuries. The collaboration aims to bridge traditional financial infrastructure with blockchain-based settlement rails, giving institutions and developers access to programmable versions of assets already held within DTCC’s custody ecosystem.
DTCC processes quadrillions of dollars in securities transactions annually and sits at the center of global market infrastructure, making the partnership particularly significant for the broader real-world asset sector. Rather than tokenizing entirely new financial instruments, the focus appears to be on extending existing traditional assets into blockchain-native environments where they can interact with smart contracts, automated collateral systems, and 24/7 settlement infrastructure.
Stellar was selected in part for its focus on payments, asset issuance, and compliance-oriented financial tooling. The network has increasingly positioned itself as a blockchain optimized for regulated financial applications, stablecoin infrastructure, and tokenized asset issuance, particularly for institutions looking for lower-cost and faster settlement compared to legacy systems.
The partnership also reflects a rapidly accelerating trend among major financial institutions exploring blockchain-based securities infrastructure. Over the past year, firms across banking, asset management, and market infrastructure have expanded pilots and production deployments involving tokenized treasuries, funds, collateral management systems, and cross-border settlement rails.
