Chainlink & Pyth Bring U.S. Commerce Data On-Chain, Powering Smarter DeFi

Published

Chainlink & Pyth now deliver Commerce Dept macro data (GDP, PCE, etc.) onchain—enabling smarter DeFi and market transparency.

Chainlink and Pyth Network are now delivering official U.S. Department of Commerce economic data—such as GDP, the PCE Price Index, and Real Final Sales—directly to blockchains via secure data feeds. These feeds are live across ten networks, including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Optimism, and support both absolute values and annualized changes.

Following the announcement, Chainlink's LINK token surged over 5%, while Pyth’s token rallied nearly 50%. The move marks the first time U.S. government macroeconomic indicators have been made available in a verifiable, tamper-resistant form onchain.

This breakthrough allows developers to integrate real-world economic metrics into decentralized applications. Features like interest-adjusting DeFi protocols, prediction markets tied to inflation, macro-aware risk management tools, and transparent dashboarding are now possible.

This initiative aligns with the U.S. Commerce Department’s broader push toward blockchain-enabled data distribution—establishing a new standard for transparency, accessibility, and composability in economic reporting.
