Avalanche Announces Integration With the UAE’s National Digital Vault

Avalanche Announces Integration With the UAE’s National Digital Vault

Published

Avalanche says its technology is being integrated into the UAE PASS Digital Vault, an identity service used by more than 12 million people, but key technical and deployment details remain undisclosed.

Avalanche Targets National Digital Identity Infrastructure

Avalanche has announced that its blockchain technology is being integrated into the Digital Vault attached to UAE PASS, the United Arab Emirates’ national digital identity platform.

According to Avalanche’s announcement, the UAE Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority is working with Dubai-based technology firm Deca4 on the integration. UAE PASS is used by citizens, residents and visitors to verify their identities, sign documents and access government and private-sector services.

The platform reportedly serves more than 12 million registered users. Official UAE information confirms that UAE PASS is the country’s unified national digital identity system, although publicly available government pages did not initially provide matching technical details about Avalanche’s role.

What the Digital Vault Does

The Digital Vault allows users to request, access and share verified versions of official documents. Depending on the connected service, that can include licences, certificates and other government-issued records.

Blockchain technology can be used to create tamper-evident records for these documents. Instead of placing sensitive personal information directly on a public ledger, a system can record a cryptographic reference that allows an authorized party to verify that a document is authentic and has not been altered.

That distinction matters for privacy. A blockchain verification layer does not necessarily mean that identity records or document contents are publicly visible. The design can keep personal information in controlled databases while using blockchain records to verify integrity.

The UAE has described the Digital Vault as blockchain-powered before the Avalanche announcement. However, those earlier descriptions did not identify Avalanche as the underlying network.

Important Technical Questions Remain

The initial announcement does not explain precisely how Avalanche will fit into the existing system. It is unclear whether the technology has entered full production, remains in a pilot phase or is being added gradually to selected Digital Vault functions.

Avalanche also did not specify whether the deployment uses its public C-Chain, a dedicated Avalanche Layer 1 network or another permissioned architecture. Other unanswered questions include which organizations will operate validators, how data residency will be handled and whether users will be able to verify document records independently.

These are not minor implementation details. National identity infrastructure has strict privacy, security and availability requirements. The significance of the integration will depend on whether Avalanche supports a limited verification function or becomes a larger part of the system’s production architecture.

Until TDRA or another federal authority publishes a detailed confirmation, the most accurate description is that Avalanche has announced an integration involving TDRA and Deca4. Claims that the entire UAE national identity system has moved onto a public blockchain go beyond the information currently available.

A Growing Presence in the Emirates

The development follows Avalanche’s broader expansion in the region. In December 2025, the Avalanche Foundation established a Distributed Ledger Technology foundation in Abu Dhabi Global Market. The entity was created to support partnerships, education and blockchain adoption across the Middle East and North Africa.

That local presence gives Avalanche a regulated base for working with governments and enterprises. It also places the network inside one of the most active jurisdictions for digital assets, tokenization and blockchain-based public services.

Deca4, meanwhile, describes its work as focused on blockchain, artificial intelligence and government digitization. Its role could include helping translate Avalanche’s underlying technology into infrastructure that meets local operational and regulatory requirements.

Why This Could Be a Major Adoption Test

If the integration is confirmed as a live, production-scale deployment, it would be an important example of blockchain technology operating behind a widely used government service. That differs considerably from a speculative token launch or a temporary proof of concept.

It could also demonstrate a more practical form of blockchain adoption. Users would not necessarily need to hold AVAX, manage wallets or understand the underlying network. The technology could operate quietly in the background while improving the verification of official records.

For now, the scale of Avalanche’s role should be treated cautiously. The announcement points to a potentially meaningful government use case, but production status and architecture still need authoritative confirmation. Those details will determine whether this is a limited infrastructure partnership or a genuine national-scale deployment for Avalanche.
