Anchorage Digital and Google Cloud Launch ‘Agentic Banking’ for AI-Driven Finance

Published

The partnership aims to let AI agents autonomously move funds across crypto and traditional financial systems in real time.

Anchorage Digital and Google Cloud have unveiled a new initiative called “Agentic Banking,” a framework designed to allow artificial intelligence agents to interact directly with both traditional financial infrastructure and crypto payment rails without requiring constant human input.

The concept pushes beyond simple AI chatbots or portfolio assistants. Instead, Agentic Banking envisions autonomous AI systems capable of executing financial actions such as moving capital, settling transactions, managing treasury flows, interacting with digital assets, and coordinating payments across multiple networks in real time.

According to the announcement, the partnership combines Anchorage Digital’s regulated crypto banking infrastructure with Google Cloud’s AI and cloud computing capabilities. Together, the two firms are positioning the system as a bridge between traditional finance and blockchain-based financial rails.

The development highlights how quickly the conversation around AI in finance is evolving. Early fintech AI tools largely focused on analytics, customer service, or fraud detection. Agentic Banking introduces the possibility of AI systems becoming active participants within the financial system itself.

In practice, this could eventually allow AI agents to execute treasury management strategies, rebalance assets, settle invoices, route liquidity, or facilitate cross-border payments automatically based on predefined permissions and risk frameworks.

The timing also aligns with a broader industry trend toward programmable finance and tokenized assets. As stablecoins, tokenized treasuries, and blockchain settlement rails continue gaining traction, AI systems may increasingly be used to coordinate financial activity across markets that operate 24/7 instead of within traditional banking hours.

For crypto markets, the announcement represents another signal that major infrastructure providers are beginning to treat blockchain networks as foundational financial rails rather than experimental side systems. It also reinforces the growing overlap between artificial intelligence, cloud infrastructure, and digital asset custody.

While the long-term regulatory and security implications remain significant, the launch of Agentic Banking suggests the financial industry is preparing for a future where autonomous software agents could play a much larger role in global capital movement and settlement.
