Grayscale Launches First U.S. Spot Crypto ETPs That Pay Staking Yield By Matt Brienen Published: 2025-10-06T14:48:57+00:00 Grayscale has rolled out the first U.S.-listed spot crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs) that enable staking, letting investors earn network rewards while holding exposure to Ether and Solana. The Grayscale Ethereum Trust (ETHE) and Ethereum Mini Trust (ETH) now support staking, and the Grayscale Solana Trust (GSOL) has activated staking ahead of its planned upgrade to a fully listed spot Solana ETP. These new ETPs maintain the same regulatory structure as other spot crypto funds—meaning they are not registered under the Investment Company Act—but now combine spot price exposure with yield potential via staking. The staking will be managed via institutional custodians and a diversified validator network to mitigate validator risks and concentration. That combination of spot exposure + reward capture marks a major evolution in crypto investing: it lowers barriers for traditional investors to participate not just in price speculation but in protocol incentives. For holders, it’s a two-lane path: capture upside from market moves and compound value through network rewards. It also sets a precedent: staking yield may become a standard feature of future crypto ETPs.
