Bridge to On-Chain Finance: BlackRock’s BUIDL Fund Lands on BNB Chain and Becomes Collateral on Binance By Matt Brienen Published: 2025-11-14T19:14:49+00:00 BlackRock and Binance have officially partnered to bring the world’s largest tokenized U.S. Treasury fund, the BUIDL fund, onto BNB Chain. The move marks a major step in bridging traditional finance and blockchain infrastructure, making tokenized real-world assets more accessible and functional within the crypto ecosystem. The USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund, known as BUIDL, is backed by short-term U.S. Treasuries and offers yield in tokenized form. With its latest expansion, a new share class of the fund has launched on BNB Chain through tokenization firm Securitize. This integration allows institutions to hold regulated, yield-bearing assets directly on-chain, supported by the security and scalability of the BNB Chain network. In tandem with the launch, Binance has accepted BUIDL as eligible off-exchange collateral for its institutional settlement platform. This means institutions can now use tokenized treasuries as collateral for trading and liquidity access without moving assets onto an exchange. It effectively mirrors traditional repo or triparty settlement systems but executes them with the transparency and speed of blockchain technology. The collaboration underscores how rapidly tokenization is moving from concept to utility. By linking regulated funds like BUIDL with on-chain environments, institutions can enjoy the compliance and yield of traditional assets alongside the composability and efficiency of decentralized networks. For Binance, the addition strengthens its institutional offering, while for BNB Chain, it signals growing adoption by mainstream financial entities. The broader implication is clear: yield-bearing assets are no longer confined to legacy systems. They are becoming programmable, composable, and usable as collateral within global digital markets. As tokenized funds expand to more chains and integrate deeper into DeFi ecosystems, the separation between traditional and decentralized finance continues to blur. BlackRock’s BUIDL move may well serve as a blueprint for the next wave of institutional blockchain adoption.
